Rules for Battle of the Band
(1) Participating bands must register online before 31st January 2017. Each band must upload an MP3* of one of their recorded songs – and pay an entry fee of HK$100. Each band must select the two semi-final dates that they can participate in.
* mp3 submission can be a live recording or a rehearsal recording or a demo. We simply want to hear your band’s potential.
Battle of the Bands比賽規則

Eligibility 參賽資格：
Open Category:
(1) All band members must be 18 years or older to register in the Battle.
(2) Bands must have a minimum of two members and a maximum of eight members.
(3) Bands must not be signed with a label or record or management company.
(4) Band members must be residents of Hong Kong
(5) Band members must remain the same throughout competition. Replacing a band member is prohibited without the consent of the organisers.
(6) All styles of music are welcome in the competition.
(7) All participating bands must agree to give Battle of the Bands permission to use their name, image, songs played in the competition for promotional purposes.
(8) No employees of The Underground and Volkswagen Hong Kong Limited can enter this competition.
公開組別
(1)所有樂隊成員必須年滿18歲。
(2)樂隊成員人數必須最少有兩名或最多八名 。
(3)樂隊不可已與任何唱片公司或經理人公司簽約。
(4)所有樂隊成員必須為香港居民。
(5)樂隊成員於整個比賽過程不可變更，未經主辦單位同意私下成員替換、增減均視違反參賽規則。
(6)比賽歡迎任何樂種。
(7) 樂隊必須授權Battle of the Bands使用他們的肖像權於比賽期間作宣傳之用。
(8)The Underground及Volkswagen Hong Kong Limited之職員均不能參賽。
Description of the prize: 關於獎項：
* Winning band gets 12 hours of recording time at KOLOR studio to record a maximum of two songs**.
* Winning band gets free shuttle service with Volkswagen T6 Transporter for the winning band’s next two gigs..
* Winning band will receive HK$2000 Parsons cash coupon (all other finalists will receive HK$500 Parsons cash coupon).
* 獲勝的樂隊可以在KOLOR的錄音室12小時，最多錄製兩首歌曲**。
* 獲勝的樂隊可於未來2次演出時享有Volkswagen T6 Transporter專車接送服務（演出地點必須為香港地區）。
* 獲勝的樂隊可獲得港幣$2000柏斯琴行現金禮卷（成功晉身決賽樂隊可獲得港幣$500柏斯琴行現金禮卷。
** Volkswagen Hong Kong Ltd. will have permission to use recordings which the winning band creates during its free studio recording; this is a non-exclusive license to use the recordings in promotional materials, marketing campaigns and the like which solely and exclusively target the Hong Kong and Macau market.
** Volkswagen Hong Kong Ltd. 將有權使用得獎樂隊於免費錄音時製作的作品。該錄音為非獨家授權，將使用於宣傳及市場推廣上，用途範圍祇限於香港及澳門市場。
Judging Procedure:
Bands will submit a song recording along with their application form.
The Underground Ltd. will listen to all applications and select participants for semi-final heats.
For the semi-finals, the organisers will appoint two or more respected figures from the music business to act as judges. The voting will be based on 50% judges and 50% audience voting.
For the finals, the winning decision is based on 75% judges and 25% audience voting.
評審程序：
樂隊網上登記並上傳一首原創歌曲的mp3
The Underground Ltd.團隊會聆聽所有歌曲，選出參加者晉身準決賽。
準決賽由主辦單位邀請二位或以上業界人士組成專業評審團。觀眾投票及評審團將以50/50的比重選出樂隊晉級決賽。
決賽將按評審團（75%）及現場觀眾（25%）比重決定勝出隊伍。
Competition Procedures:
* In the semi-finals, each band performs TWO songs. The total performance time limit is eight minutes maximum. The performance must not exceed eight minutes. The songs can be covers or originals and lyrics can be in any language.
Bands will find out at the end of the semi-final if they have made it to the Final.
There are four Semi-Finals: 18th February, 4th March, 25th March and 22nd April 2017.
* At the final on 27th May 2017, each band performs THREE songs. The time limit is twelve (12) minutes maximum. One song must be original and lyrics can be in any language.
The winning band will be announced and prizes awarded on the night.
The songs can change from submission to semi-finals to final. Bands do not have to perform the same song at each leg of the competition.
比賽程序
*準決賽每隊樂隊演奏二首歌曲，演出時間不得超過八分鐘。樂隊可演繹翻唱或原創歌曲，歌詞語言不限。
決賽入圍結果將於每場準決賽完結當日即時公佈。
四場準決賽為日期為：2月18日，3月4日，3月25日及4月22日。
*2017年5月27日決賽每隊樂隊演奏三首歌曲，演出時間不得超過十二分鐘。其中一首必需為原創歌曲，歌詞語言不限。
決賽當晚會即時公佈優勝隊伍及頒發獎項。
準決賽及決賽歌曲不需相同，可按情況自行決定演出歌曲。
Rules specific to the Heats, Semi-Finals & Final:
(1) The organisers will provide a sound & lighting system which all bands can use.
(2) Backline will be provided by the organisers during the entire competition. Six-piece drum kit with three cymbals, a bass amplifier, two guitar amplifiers, one keyboard amplifier, microphones and stage monitors.
(3) The organisers will provide sound & lighting engineers as well as all necessary stage crew.
(4) Band members must bring any personal instruments (guitars, bass guitar, keyboards, effect pedals, turntables etc.) Drummers must bring their own drumsticks.
(5) All bands must use the same backline and drums provided by the organisers.
(6) To keep changeover time to a minimum, any band with a left-handed drummer will play either first or last at the event.
(7) Keyboards and any special equipment (other than personal instruments such as guitars) will be placed on stage before the event begins and will remain there until the end of the event.
(8) There is NO soundcheck for Semi-Final events. Only the band due first on stage will be given a brief soundcheck to check the equipment.
(9) At the Final, each finalist band will, if possible, be given a 10 minute sound check. Sound checks will be allotted in reverse to the playing order, which means the band last on stage does the first sound check and the band first on stage does the last sound check.
(10) The order of performance.
Semi-Finals & Final – the order of performance will be determined by a lucky draw, usually a day before the event.
(11) Bands going beyond their allotted playing time may be faded out and/or deducted points.
(12) The Organiser reserves all rights to interpret, amend, cancel or suspend the terms and conditions, rules and regulations of the Contest without further notice. Entrants are to abide by any provision and condition set by the Organiser, which shall be final.
初賽、準決賽及決賽細則
(1)主辦機構將提供燈光及音響設備予所有樂隊使用。
(2)主辦機構將於比賽期間提供基本器材設備（包括一套6件鼓組連3塊cymbal，1個低音結他擴音器，2個結他擴音器，1個鍵盤擴音器咪高峰及monitors)。
(3)主辦機構將提供燈光、音響工程師，及所有舞台工作人員。
(4)樂隊成員需自行攜帶樂器（如結他、低音結他、鍵盤、音效器、唱盤(turntable)等）。鼓手需自備鼓棍。
(5)所有樂隊均需使用由主辦單位提供之同一套音響設備(backline)及鼓組。
(6) 為將切換時間降至最低，任何使用左手擊鼓的鼓手，其所屬樂隊將被安排於開首或結尾演奏。
(7) 鍵盤及其他特別器材(個人樂器除外)將於節目進行前預先設置於舞台上直至節目結束。
(8)所有初賽及準決賽均不設試音，唯第一隊比賽隊伍可簡略檢查樂器。
(9) 如情況許可，每隊決賽隊伍有十分鐘試音時間。試音次序將按比賽順序逆向進行，即最後演出的樂隊將安排最先試音；首隊樂隊則最尾試音，如此類推。
(10)比賽順序：
準決賽及決賽－出場次序於比寶前一日以抽籤形式決定。
(11) 任何超時演出將會被消音或/及受到處罰(扣分)。
(12) 主辦單位保留解釋及修訂大賽章程的權利，並對結果擁有最終決定權。主辦單位就比賽之製作安排、參賽條款及準則、獎品頒發及比賽的一切事宜，所作出的決定及程序，參賽者必須遵從及同意，不得異議。
