Live review from 22nd Anniversary Festival Day 2:

The jolly crew of this nocturnal vessel from what I have searched seem to have a lot of experience with playing music, they sure played with confidence.
The songs they played were quite different from each other, some of them giving opposite feelings than each other.
Their first song “Cold Tea”, was for most of the part relaxing and soothing especially the beginning, before going relatively a bit more intense.
“Walk a Mile”, was quite paradoxical for me as the instrumentals and vocals sounded quite happy while the lyrics themselves from what I heard sounded pretty melancholic.
“I am Everywhere”, was a song that started off strong straight from the beginning. Which is what I personally prefer, I see it as it goes straight to the point.
“Pressure Cooker”, an overall jolly sounding and my favorite song of the band. The instrumentals at the beginning that Night Ships was what I enjoyed the most. The feeling it gave was similar to two songs (Tommy Boy by Kid Smoko and What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club). It sounded tranquil and happy with a small dose of longing, maybe you won’t get the longing part but I definitely did.
Lastly, I recommend that you check their music out, they play a good show and hopefully will continue to in the future.

Made up of well-known members of the local indie scene spanning at least 20 years – all of whom, I believe, have graced various Clockenflap stages in different bands – I had high expectations of this band before they even played.
I was not disappointed. The band entertained the audience with a great set of, for want of a better description from my limited vocabulary, indie rock. The opening couple of songs, with their guitar hooks, somehow reminded me of The Cure (i.e. clean riffs in the background), followed by tracks infused with different styles from different decades.
Night Ships is a band that is technically competent, with members who play with great rapport and are very comfortable on stage. If you enjoy rock music at its barest, without too many effects, pretense, or restraint, this band is surely for you.
